Open Position: Research Associate I, Cell Therapy
Position Summary
Reporting to the R&D manager, the research associate will assist with projects that support development of Cell Therapy platforms in accordance with the company’s goals. The position is primarily lab based and will share facilities and resources with other lab-based members of the R&D team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare, aliquot media, buffers, cytokines, antibodies, and other reagents for experiments. Manufacture, select, culture, and maintain cell lines for in vitro and in vivo experiments. Generate, organize, and catalog cryopreserved stocks of primary cells and cell lines for long term storage.
- Design and execute experiments independently to address project goals. Identify areas of improvement in experimental design if troubleshooting is required.
Produce, characterize, and perform functional assays with engineered platelets with limited guidance from senior scientific team members. - Properly document and update experiments in electronic lab notebook for data accountability Analyze data and create figures for internal and external presentations with limited guidance from senior scientific team members. Communicate results, ideas, and plans clearly and concisely with an appreciation of the impact for the company.
- Work collaboratively with other teams on emerging technology and assay development. Cultivate in-depth knowledge of the current scientific literature.
Select/discuss methods and techniques for obtaining new experimental results. Cultivate knowledge and practice molecular biology techniques of PCR, cloning, RNA production, and qPCR. - Coordinate general operation of the cell culture lab, including ordering of materials and equipment, stocking of consumable goods, collection and packaging of biohazard waste, monitoring of liquid nitrogen and carbon dioxide reservoirs and general maintenance of the lab. Comfortable with mouse animal models and, particularly, in dissection/collection of relevant tissues/organs/cells (e.g. blood, brain, spleen).
Minimum Requirements:
- Master’s degree in biology, chemistry, or related field
- Fluent English, written and spoken
- Excellent communication skills
- Learning agility
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience with cell culture and cell-based assays.
- Familiarity with human cancer models.
- Experience with mouse cancer models and ex vivo tissue analysis.
- Familiarity with common statistical assessments and data analysis techniques.
- Experience with Graphpad prism and flow cytometric data analysis software.
- Previous experience in the Pharma industry will be considered a plus.
- International experience would be considered a plus.
